    The famous William B. Travis letter continues to provide Texans and all Americans with a sense of pride and respect for sacrifice, honor and dedication to country.  This letter was written February 24, 1836 by Lt. Col. Comdt William Barrett Travis to the people of Texas, from inside the Alamo, as a plea for reinforcements.

    "...I shall never surrender or retreat. Then, I can on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism and everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid with a dispatch..."
