It was right around Christmas this past holiday season when an unusual item made its way to our shelves. It was the selfie pole, an extendable arm that ups your selfie game by allowing you to take photos at more comfortable — and flattering — angles. We weren’t sure what to expect when we first put these out, but the response was huge. People (ourselves included) loved the novelty, and the better photos it helped produce. Still, you know how they say too much of a good thing isn’t so good? Apparently that applies here.
Selfie poles have caught on everywhere, to the point that they’re no longer welcome in some public places. Here’s a quick rundown of where this innovative accessory could land you in hot water:
- Disney World/Disneyland
- The Colosseum
- The Palace of Versailles
- Coachella and Lollapalooza music festivals
OK, so we’ve covered where you CAN’T use these tools, but what about places you can? There’s a whole world out there, so let’s not get caught in the details. Here are a few places we suggest:
- The beach – Sun, san and selfies? Sounds like the perfect day to us. Especially when you have the right gear. Stop in for a monogrammed sun hat, Brighton sunglasses and other swoon-worthy accessories that will add a little extra oomph to those shots.
- Houston landmarks — Hometown pride is a beautiful thing. Settle in at the Biscuit Paint Wall, We Heart Houston sign or another favorite spot and snap away!
- Your favorite Magpies location – Trying on a little Kendra Scott bling? Out for an afternoon with the girls? Just stopping to say hi? Snap a shot and share it on our Facebook or Instagram pages! Just be careful not to knock over our displays in the process.
What are you waiting for? Get snapping! We can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Until next time,
